Born on the south side of Chicago, LaMorris Crawford was only ten months old when his mother was shot to death at the young age of seventeen; to this day he still has no idea who his father is. Growing up without parents, in poverty and a city of violence, LaMorris found his own way of survival through gangs, drugs, popularity, and basketball.
Although he was a popular athlete, this attention could not fill the void in his life. When LaMorris was nineteen years old he had an encounter with Jesus Christ that changed him forever. Christ completely changed the course of his life. The first in his family to attend college, LaMorris earned both an undergraduate and graduate degree.
Today, LaMorris and his wife Megan have four beautiful children, and they serve as the team chaplains to the Cincinnati Bengals. He has a passion for preaching, communicating clearly and effectively the Word of God by sharing with others how God can also do an incredible work in their lives.
Matt leads a creative team of pastors and volunteers at Houston First Church of the Nazarene who are on the frontlines of discipleship and community engagement. Matt grew up in the Church of the Nazarene and answered the call to ministry at Nazarene Youth Conference ’95 in Phoenix. After graduating from Trevecca Nazarene University in 2000, he led growing and dynamic youth ministries in South Carolina, Florida, and Texas. Drawing from his years of family ministry experience, Matt is passionate about seeing families thrive in their faith and inviting people into a transforming life with Christ.
Matt met his wife, Melanie, while they were serving as counselors at the Golden Bell Camp and Conference Center in Colorado. Melanie is a middle school science teacher in the Houston area. Together, they have three spunky kids: Noah (12), Briley (8), and Quinn (6). The Hawkins family enjoys family game nights, Cubs baseball, and making cannonballs in their community pool.
Dr. Carla Sunberg was elected 43rd general superintendent of the Church of the Nazarene at the 29th General Assembly in Indianapolis, Indiana, in June 2017. At the time of her election, Dr. Sunberg was president of Nazarene Theological Seminary, where she had been serving since January 2014.
She was ordained on the Russia North District, where she and her husband, Chuck, served the Church of the Nazarene for 13 years as pioneer missionaries to the former Soviet Union. While in Moscow, Russia, she served as director of Compassionate Ministries and later as director of theological education for the field.
Sunberg is co-author with Gene Van Note of Faxes from Russia (Beacon Hill Press, 1996), as well as author of numerous articles for various church publications. She has also written Reclaiming Eve: The Identity and Calling of Women in the Kingdom of God (Beacon Hill Press, 2014) with co-authors Suzanne Burden and Jamie Wright, Reflecting the Image: Our Call to Mirror Christ in the World (Beacon Hill Press, 2015) written with Keri Mitchell, and The Cappadocian Mothers: Deification Exemplified in the Writings of Basil, Gregory and Gregory (Wipf & Stock, 2017).
When he knelt at the altar as a boy and gave his heart and life to the Lord, Brian had no idea that God had gifted Him with an incredible ability to sing. Although he was exposed to music as he grew up in the church, it was not until he was twenty-three years of age that his voice was revealed. Since that time, Brian has been singing from his heart the praises of Jesus Christ.
Since beginning his full-time ministry twenty-four years ago, Brian has completed four solo recordings including arrangements produced and orchestrated by seven-time Grammy nominee Mr. Lari Goss. These recordings minister to the hearts and souls of all who hear them and have been played across the country on numerous radio stations.
Brian, his wife Penni and their two sons travel full-time in their music ministry. Totally committed to spreading the gospel, their daily goal is to help others make God and HIs son Jesus Christ the center of their lives.
Remedy is a student worship band that travels during the summer to South Central Region Nazarene churches, children's and youth camps. Current SNU students are selected through an interview/audition process each Spring.
